A number of our Youth Brass Band (LYBB) players took part in Lostock Hall Primary Schools ‘ Proms in Playground’ playing alongside young players from the school as well as players from Lostock Hall Memorial Band and Red Admiral Band.
The event was set up in partnership with Brass Bands England and it was a fantastic day with players of all ages and abilities putting on a proms performance! Lostock Hall Primary had a 6 piece ensemble made up of players from the different Lancashire based bands. The school has weekly brass tuition from our Lancashire Music Service teams and they also participated in the concert playing a variety of tunes, including We Will Rock You.
Most of the band members arrived in the morning on performance day to assist the school with a pBuzz workshop for 60 children in Year 3. They performed a rousing I Feel Good, The Long Note Song and Match Day later at the concert. The teenagers had also rehearsed an exciting programme of music to perform for the primary children, including The Wellerman and Shut Up and Dance which both went down really well!
Since the Proms in the Playground performance 5 new children have signed up for small group brass tuition in school which continues to be delivered by Lancashire Music Service. Its save to say the day was a roaring success, and we look forward to following it up next term and building a strong working relationship between the school and the bands.
