Skelmersdale Band Qualify for National Finals

The band were playing alongside thirteen other talented bands from the area, and after a draw which saw them playing in the early evening, they were delighted to have been awarded second place by adjudicators Ian Brownbill and Sarah Groarke-Booth. This not only saw them take home another trophy for the cabinet, but also the invitation to play at the National Championships in Cheltenham in September – which, of course, they were delighted to accept. The performance from the band was top quality, and wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of the players, the expertise and attention to detail from conductor David Chapman, and the support of the committee and fans. The band are now looking forward to the year ahead, which includes a concert at St. Michael’s and All Angels Church, Dalton, on March 14th, the Whit Friday Marches in May, and, of course, the all-important National Finals in September. The band rehearse at their band room in Old Skelmersdale twice a week, and take part in many events locally throughout the year.
