Playground Proms is back in Lancashire for 2026!
The wonderful Playground Proms and Lancashire Music Hub have secured the funding for this year to team up and provide in school performances this coming May! If you have not heard of the initiative before, please take a look at the website Playground Proms | Music schools playground, however there previous visits to Lancashire have hugely successful. The PP team have a refreshed repertoire and a new song for the children to learn, so a repeat visit is absolutely worth it!
The workshop is in several parts and as well as the whole school live performance, it also includes an in school Dalcroze workshop, an online intro for teachers and an in-person twilight Dalcroze CPD:
Thu 16 April Online twilight intro sessions for teachers
w/c 5 May Dalcroze School workshop visits
w/c 5 May There will also be one in-person CPD (venue TBC), to which teachers in the region will be invited for a twilight session. This is open to all teachers, free of charge, irrelevant if the school sign up for the live performance
w/c 18 May Playground Proms whole school 1 hour performance.
There is also the opportunity to attend a public pop-up performance at the weekend after the school performances, if you have any suggested venues in your local community, please do let Caroline at Playground Proms know (caroline@playgroundproms.net). This year they are particularly interested in supporting intergenerational performances and would be especially keen to hear from you if you have existing relationships with residential care homes for elderly people.
If you would like to have Playground Proms in your school, we do request a contribution of £150.00 and you will need to sign up here by 4pm, Friday 13th March. Then by the end of March, you will hear from Caroline at Playground Proms as to whether you have a place.
This is open to the whole county and Blackpool Schools and as such, places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
