Amplify

Get involved in shaping the future of Music Education in Lancashire

Amplify is now recruiting for new members for the 2025-26 academic year!

What is Amplify?

Amplify is the youth board for Lancashire Music Hub, amplifying the voices of young people across the county to shape the future of music education in the county.  Amplify ensures that youth voice is represented at a strategic level of the hub to influence future decision making and planning.

Lancashire Music Hub is a network of organisations working across all schools and colleges in Lancashire and Blackpool to ensure all children and young people in the county have access to music making and learning that’s right for them.

Who are Amplify?

Amplify are a group of young people aged 14-18 years old from across Lancashire and Blackpool, bringing together a wide range of music education experience and talents, working with music leaders Jay Hall (Lancashire Music Service) and Leroy Lupton (More Music). It’s free to join, you’ll make new friends and taking part will be a great addition to your university/college application’s personal statement.

What does Amplify do?

Amplify is all about young people advocating for young people and music education in Lancashire and Blackpool. Each session will be a creative opportunity to collaborate as a group to find out and share what young people want from music education, what works well and what the challenges are.

How you do it is up to you all as a group. It could involve creating videos and online content, organising events for young people, meeting professionals from all corners of the music industry and much more.  In recent years, Amplify has been part of national conferences, organised events across Lancashire and made videos and music to share the views of young people.

When and where do Amplify meet?

This academic year, there will be six in-person sessions at County Hall in Preston and six online sessions, all taking place on Tuesdays from 5pm-6pm (arrival from 4.30pm for the in-person sessions). A full list of dates can be found below. Refreshments will be provided for County Hall sessions.

It’s free to join, you just need to sign up at the link below.

Amplify is a partnership project between More Music and Lancashire Music Service for Lancashire Music Hub.

Fantastic news for one of our Lancashire Yamaha Youth Ambassadors and member of Lancashire Youth Brass Band- the very talented, and all round nice guy - Joseph! #WhereWillMusicTakeYouFreckleton Band are thrilled to welcome the exceptionally talented Joseph Glew as their new Principal Cornet! At just 16, Joe is already making waves in the brass band world, and the band are excited for him to bring his energy and experience to the team. Joe’s musical journey began at the tender age of 7 with the Red Admiral Music Academy, and he has since blossomed under the guidance of Daniel Brooks and more recently the teachings of Andrew Lofthouse. His accolades include leading Red Admiral to a National Finals spot and clinching the "Most Outstanding Player" award. Joe has also shone brightly with the Lancashire Youth Brass Band, Elland Youth Silver Band, and graced prestigious venues with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.Recently Joe has gained valuable experience with the famous Leyland Band that has put him in good stead to become our Principal Cornet! As Joe prepares to study Music Performance and Music Production A Levels at Cardinal Newman College, the band are excited to support his continued growth and look forward to many memorable performances together. The band have been looking for a long-term Principal Cornet for nearly four years and would like to thank the many guests and friends of the band who have stepped in to the hot seat for concerts as well as contests!Musical Director, John Atkinson, says “I am thrilled to welcome Joe to the band - for a player so young, he has a maturity to his playing beyond his years and has so much potential!I have been aware of his playing for quite some time now and I have always been impressed by his warm sound and lyrical phrasing. Couple that with his technical prowess and a wide range, he is already a great cornet player and a huge asset to the band.I am looking forward to working more closely with Joe and seeing him flourish into a star of the future!”It is an exciting time at Freckleton Band, with the fourth place result at the North West Regional Championships securing their position in the top section and an exciting roster of concerts and contests planned for the remainder of 2026. Joe, along with all the band’s soloists, will be showcased at the band’s upcoming concert at Lytham Methodist Church on Saturday 6th June. ... See MoreSee Less
