Our two symphony orchestras continue to grow in numbers and strength and this term we welcome Paul Swannell as the new conductor for the schools symphony orchestra for his debut performance. Their joint Easter concert will feature an exciting and diverse programme of music including themes from Scheherazade, Fauré’s Pavane and final movement of Beethoven’s Symphony no. 5 from LSSO and the LYSO look forward to playing movements from Tchaikovskys’ Fifth symphony and Beethoven’s Egmont.

Helen Harrison, Music Director for LYSO said:

“It’s an end to an exciting term for the LYSO and the LSSO with their Spring concert this Sunday at Shuttleworth College. During this term the LYSO have been involved in exciting projects providing valuable musical opportunities including a Conducting Workshop for budding young conductors, followed by a String Day involving 100 young players from across the County.  During half term the LYSO were delighted to be invited to ‘raise the curtain’ prior to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at Preston Guild Hall.  This busy term continued with a family day and concert with Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra  at Preston Guild Hall. We’re all looking forward to the exciting concert ahead.”
