South Region Celebration Concert

Date: Sunday 7 December 2014

The event will showcase a variety of ensembles and styles of music performed by young people in the area.

Groups will include joint choirs from the Music Centres and schools who come together to raise the roof of Ormskirk School. The ‘Blow it!’ ensemble, formed from wind and brass players from the Ormskirk area  will perform a rousing rendition of music by Jock McKenzie. Brass music will be a theme in the concert with brass groups from the Chorley and Ormskirk area joining forces.

In a change of style ‘Jazz it!’ will inspire and delight with their improvisational style, while the ‘Bow it!’ string ensemble will perform pieces both tradition and modern. One of the highlights of the concert will be the invited county ensemble, Lancashire Schools Symphony Orchestra performing under their dynamic conductor Helen Harrison.

All performers will join together at the end of the concert to really finish on a high with that Last night of the Proms feel.
