Lancashire Youth Brass Band

Our Youth Brass Band (LYBB) is one of Lancashire Music Service’s county ensembles, providing inspiring opportunities for young musicians across the county.

New players very welcome (grade 3 standard and above). Please come and visit one of our rehearsals.

Students Can Apply for Grants of up to £1,000 for Musical Instruments (UK)Grants of up to £1,000 are available through the Universal Music UK Sound Foundation Individual Funding programme to help eligible students buy musical instruments or equipment. The Foundation is an independent music education charity, supported by Universal Music, working to improve access to music education in the UK and Ireland.Individuals can apply if they are British, EU/EEA nationals, or overseas applicants ordinarily resident in the UK. Applicants must be in full-time education when funding offers are made and either be in school up to Year 11 with regular music lessons, or studying full-time on a certified music course at college, university or conservatoire.Funding can be used towards instruments or equipment. It cannot support music lessons, tuition fees, exam fees, travel, accommodation, retrospective purchases, deposits, or items bought before an offer is made.- Applications are submitted online using separate forms for applicants aged 15 and under, and 16 and over.- A current independent music teacher must submit the reference form directly.The deadline is 10am on 7 October 2026. Funding Available to Help Musicians Develop Their Careers (UK)Help Musicians has launched Fast Track Live, offering grants of £500 to £1,000 to help working and early-career musicians take advantage of significant live performance opportunities.Help Musicians is a charity that provides career, financial and wellbeing support to musicians across the UK.Funding can support tours, festivals, showcases, support slots and other live performances taking place within six months. Eligible costs include travel, accommodation, rehearsals, equipment, production and marketing. Successful applicants also receive a two-hour career clinic with a live music specialist.Key highlights:• UK musicians actively developing sustainable careers can apply.• Applicants normally need at least 40% of their income from music over the previous two years, reduced to 20% for musicians with a long-term health condition or disability.• Grants: £500–£1,000.• Applicants must have control over aspects of their career, such as self-management or self-releasing.Applications are made online via the Help Musicians website, and the current funding round closes at 5pm on 9 October 2026.
