Lancashire Music Hub Choir Collaboration…

Voices from across the whole county come together in our latest choir collaboration; I’m Still Standing. Singers took part from 6 diverse Hub vocal projects working with 2 key partners; More Music and Lancashire Music Service and featuring singers ranging from age 5 to their late teens.

Throughout the Autumn term, the More Music Young Producers team have been working hard to plan an end of term Christmas event under the most unusual circumstances and the choirs video was premiered as part of their “Snowed In” virtual concert on 12th December.

The famous Elton John song ‘I’m Still Standing’ was chosen for its message of confidence and resilience and the singers have certainly enjoyed its lively, uplifting mood. It has taken hours of solo practice, online rehearsal, independent filming and recording but we think you’re going to love the end result.

The groups featured are; Lancashire Youth Voice Ensemble (LYVE), Jazz Youth Voice Ensemble (JYVE), Bay Youth Voices, Unique Kids and the Lancashire Music Service Primary and Secondary Music Centre Online Choirs. Arranged, Produced and rehearsed by Emma Williams, Leroy Lupton, Ashley Murphy, Debbie Jones, Nicky Donnelly and Rachel Parsons

Lancashire Music Hub Singing Leader, Emma Williams said this about this project:

“It’s been really hard trying to sing in lockdown – especially as it’s when you sing as group, the real magic happens! Initial ideas to film a series of videos showcasing  artists from Lancaster and Morecambe’s music scene were thwarted by lockdown. Then, with endless changes to restrictions, a mid term 4 week lockdown, the introduction of the new tier system, plans were changed weekly. With many adaptations and the development of some essential event management skills, the group conceived the idea of streaming a gig from More Music’s venue featuring both live and pre recorded sets in order to maximise its inclusive potential. Everyone is really proud of the end result!”
