The South District for Lancashire Music Hub includes South Ribble, Chorley, and West Lancashire.  We deliver whole class instrumental lessons, small group, and individual lessons in schools across the region, but we also have fabulous opportunities for young musicians outside school.

The South District is proud to be the host for all of the Lancashire County Music Ensembles.  The County Youth Concert Band rehearse at Lostock Hall Academy.  St. Michael’s High School in Chorey is host to the Lancashire Youth Brass Band, Schools Jazz Orchestra, School’s Symphony Orchestra, Lancashire Youth Orchestra, and Honk!

We hope all young musicians from all over Lancashire will aspire to be part of the County Ensembles, but for those in the earlier stages of their musical journey, we also have many Inspire Ensembles.  Inspire ensembles are a wonderful way to expand your musical journey outside of school; they are perfect for those of you who have just started to learn in whole class music lessons but love it and want to do more!  The Wind Brass and Percussion Inspire ensemble rehearse at Lostock Hall Academy.  Strings Inspire, and Pop Inspire rehearse at St. Michael’s High School.  More details can be found by following the hyperlinks.

Chorley Young Voices is a fabulous opportunity for young primary ages singers.  They will also rehearse at St. Michael’s on Saturday mornings.

As well as regular ensembles and lessons, LMS also run local events for specific schools that are engaging in our whole class music lessons.  These are currently planned for brass and wind players in Penwortham, and Leyland, where the aim is to bring the most enthusiastic beginner musicians together and inspire them to want to make more music together in an ensemble outside of school.

Look out for our larger musical celebrations too:  Brass Attack will be held at Lostock Hall Academy in July, West Lancs Big Play will be held at Ormskirk Academy in June, and the Lancashire Youth Symphony Orchestra will be hosting a big open day and play day on June 22nd.  If you’re not already involved in the Music Service, come to one of these events and see where your musical journey might begin.

Our newsletter is the best way to keep up to date with musical opportunities and events.
